Teaching a Writing Workshop April 23rd

I’ve been asked by the Circle of Chairs Community Writing Workshop to teach Saturday, April 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Findley Plaza in Little Five Points as a part of the Little Five Arts Alive project.

Creative Writing Class Mills group students 5Little Five Arts Alive is a project formed from a partnership between Horizon Theatre Company and the Little Five Points Community Improvement District, and supported by a grant from ArtPlace America.

For six months starting this Spring, theatre artists, dancers, musicians, circus artists, and acts of all sorts will animate the outdoor spaces of L5P, creating a warm, welcoming, and artful place for our community and visitors. Combining ideas from the surrounding neighborhoods, local arts organizations, and L5P businesses, our goal is to enliven and strengthen the area while spotlighting the tremendous arts community we have in our area and in Atlanta.

An Unexpected Nomination and Upcoming Events

Dear Friends,

This afternoon a phone call from a staff member at the Mayor’s office here in Atlanta notified me of an unexpected nomination for a community award based on the ongoing creative writing classes and workshops I teach through Gateway Performance Productions for senior citizens at a variety of Atlanta  venues.

On Monday, May 18, 2015. I am to arrive at Atlanta City Hall and report to the mayor’s cabinet room where refreshments will be served. After this  “Honorees will be recognized at a noon press conference and at the 1pm Council meeting.”

I am deeply honored to be nominated and  to have this opportunity to highlight the importance of enrichment programs to the physical, mental and spiritual health of the elders in our community.
